Tirumala Devaswom High School popularly known as TD High School is one of the oldest and renowned school in Thuravoor, which has had a glorious record of qualitative and quantitative turn out  in a Hundred years of its existence. The President of the Thuravoor Thirumala Devaswom Commitee is the manager of the school, as per provisions of the scheme of management and administration of the Thuravoor Thirumala Devaswom. TD School Established in 1926.

 

This institution was started at a tame when there was only one high school in the taluq at cherthala and when the very large number of childrens of the locality had to stay out of there homes evenfor there secondary education.it was the suggstiongiven by the inspector of english schools sree. a .narayana iyer that the then adhikari of thirumala devaswom,  Sree .v. Sreenivas naik moved the thirumala devaswam authotrities. To deviate the devaswam funds of the establishment of a secondary.School and the thirumala devaswam committee very gladly sctioned the poposals and allotted funds for the buildings and its equipment. Accordingly the school was started on 9-10-1097(malayalam era) In the old school house in the devaswam farm house and was shifted to the new buildings in the present premises in chingom 1099.

The school was started with preparatory class and form i and form ii was opened in the beginning of the second year and form iii in the buggning of the third. There was some difficulty in getting sanction for the high school because of the opposition of nieghbouring schools put the appeal of permanent. educationalist like sri b.vamana baliga and the flourishing. strength of the classes convinced the department of the necrssity of establishing a high school in this place and form iv was sanctioned to be opened in the beginning of the school year 1926-27 the first batch presented for the e.s.l.c examination in march 1929
